Nabeshima (2014) Import Rejections of Agricultural and Food Products from East Asia: Issues and Future Challenges

  • Institute of Developing Economies, Japan External Trade Organization (IDE-JETRO), Japan conducted the joint research with UNIDO to examine trade compliances capacities in agriculture and food trade which are compiled in Regional Trade Standards Compliance Report (TSCR) in ASEAN, China, Korea and Japan. It showed that capacities to meet regulations and standards in imported markets must be strengthened in each process of value chain. For small scale farmers, it is beneficial for them to be part of the GFVC so as to improve the ability to adjust food safety standard as well as to utilize traceability system.
